THE START

Don’t follow us, we don’t know the way…

But at least we’ll be more prepared than thy neighbour.

— Mum Prepper.

Where do we start?

I am here merely to document the progression of being prepared and dismiss the stereotypical assumption that preppers look a certain way, believe a certain prophecy and live life suspicious, preoccupied and fanatical lives in a bubble of anxious, obsessive energy that the end of the world is nigh.

Interestly, I am no prepper, or so I thought and yet for the past decade have had interests and hobbies that explored the realms of self sufficiency, permaculture, bushcraft, survival mindset, self defence, frugal living and meeting basic human needs independently.

Don’t get me wrong, I am no GI Jane, no expert, in fact I stick to myself and do my thing quietly and as independently as possible.

I guess this blog is simply me documenting and embracing the power of being prepared in many shapes and forms in a world very different from the days of taking pride in looking after ones home and family, quality over quantity and self reliance.

I am just a mum.

I am also someone who believes the more skills we have, the happier and safer we will feel no matter what life throws at us and our family.

Welcome to my family, where I will try to make prepping fun, rather than an army drill, explore various survivalist skills and most of all show how self sufficiency boosts human self worth, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Please don’t take anything I write too seriously or criticise me too much, there are MANY prepper resources to refer to, but I will do my best to test if an average mum in the UK can prepare herself to the best of her ability to take care of her loved ones no matter what.
